The Panasonic AJ-PCS060G is a hard disk storage device specifically for the P2 solid state memory cards used in DVCPRO-HD/50/25 camcorders. This unit is a rugged, portable hard disk with a P2 card slot that quickly transfers the content of P2 cards to an internal hard disk drive. The 2.5-inch 60GB hard disk drive can hold the contents of up to fifteen 4GB P2 cards, and the entire contents of a 4GB P2 card can be transferred to the internal hard disk drive in about four minutes.

Field Acquisition
The AJ-PCS060G has a shock-resistant magnesium alloy body and is equipped with special impact-absorbing materials to cushion the hard disk against shock and vibration. This unit is designed for use in punishing location production scenarios.

Fast Transfers through USB
After the P2 content has been transferred, the AJ-PCS060G can connect to a nonlinear editing system or server ingests PC via a USB 2.0 interface and appears as an external disk drive.

Cost Efficiency
In the field the AJ-PCS060G serves as an aggregation and transport device storing the contents of P2 cards and minimizing the number of P2 cards needed. Back at the studio it serves as a high-speed drive for transferring video into a station’s local area network (LAN) or nonlinear editing system to speed access to the recorded content.

Easy Operation
For quick and easy operation, the AJ-PCS060G simply has a large start button. The drive also includes LED indicators for copy status, drive capacity, and battery life remaining. The drive supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Mac OS X operating systems. It runs on DC power, so you can use a 7.2 VDC battery (optional) or a 7.9 Volt AC adaptor (another optional accessory) to power it.

The nanoFlash Bundle from Convergent Design records video, audio and timecode from an HD-SDI stream onto readily available CompactFlash (CF) cards, employing the high quality Sony 4:2:2 MPEG2 codec for compression. Boasting an incredibly small size and super low-power consumption, the nanoFlash stands poised to revolutionize the broadcast video industry.
This camera-mountable device is a miniaturized version of the award-winning Flash XDR, and has two CF card slots plus embedded audio support. The nanoFlash can be powered from a camcorder battery (6.5-20VDC) or the included AC power supply, and records 1080i60/50, 1080p30/25/24 or 720p60/50 at full raster 4:2:2 MPEG-2, at 50/100 Mbps (long GOP) or 100/160 Mbps (I-frame only). As both a recorder and player, the nanoFlash sports HD-SDI I/O as well as LTC in, wired remote control and a power/start/tally light connector.
Along with the AC power supply, this bundle includes a hotshoe ball mount for mounting the nanoFlash to the top of your camera, a CompactFlash card reader, and the requisite power and I/O cables. All you need is a camera and memory cards, and you’re ready to shoot!
Records To Readily Available CF Memory Cards
32GB Compact Flash cards, available for a fraction of the cost of other professional video cards, enables 140/70 minutes of record time of high quality 50/100Mbps 4:2:2 footage per load of two cards (bit rates above 100Mbps require the 300X 16GB CF cards). Unlike FireWire based hard disk recorders, which merely copy the native camera video quality, nanoFlash can encode a live camera’s “never compressed” HD SDI output to a much higher quality, higher bitrate with less compression, eliminating most of the mosquito noise and blurring artifacts. Full raster 1920×1080 (as opposed to 1440×1080 or 1280×1080) processing, coupled with 4:2:2 color (instead of 4:2:0), greatly improves horizontal resolution as well as keying and compositing operations.
Optional ASI I/O Firmware Upgrade
nanoFlash can be further enhanced with an ASI I/O firmware upgrade (pricing TBD). ASI I/O (MPEG2 TS) enables use of nanoFlash in HD ENG/EFP (live news coverage) and video over IP applications. Programmable bit rates from 17.5 to 100 Mbps easily support microwave and satellite transmissions.
